Mark & Sheri’s Story

Not just building homes, rebuilding hearts and futures for generations to come.

When Emerge first met Mark Edwards and his soon-to-be wife Sheri, they were focused on one thing — protecting their two young grandchildren, ages two and three. Both children had come from unsafe home environments due to parental addiction and incarceration, and Mark and Sheri had stepped up selflessly to give them the love, care, and stability they desperately needed.

Then came Hurricane Helene. The storm caused serious structural damage to their family home. Water overflowed the gutters and ran between the house and a neighboring concrete slab, undermining the foundation. Mold soon spread through the walls, forcing the family to gut part of the home and eventually relocate for safety.

Now displaced, Mark and Sheri have been paying for temporary housing while continuing to care for their grandchildren. Their days are focused on providing safety and stability for the little ones while facing growing financial and emotional strain from losing their home.

But their story took a hopeful turn. Through the compassionate support of Emerge Ministries, Mark and Sheri began receiving spiritual guidance and financial counseling — two forms of care that brought healing, encouragement, and direction during an overwhelming time.

Those conversations and moments of prayer reignited something deeper between them. Out of the ashes of loss, love began to grow stronger — and this year, Mark and Sheri got engaged, a powerful symbol of new beginnings and renewed faith.

Emerge is now walking alongside them to help rebuild a safe, structurally sound home where their grandchildren can grow up surrounded by love, faith, and security.

Their story is one of quiet strength, devotion, and hope — a reminder that rebuilding homes is also about rebuilding hearts and futures for generations to come.
